DIY Color Dipped Spoons

May 28, 2015

Happy Thursday everybody! I wanted to share a fun little tutorial with you all that makes a perfect bridal shower or house-warming gift. It’s a super easy DIY project that only takes an hour or so.

Start with your wooden spoons or utensils of choice. I bought mine at World Market for under $2 a piece.

I choose two acrylic paints by Americana, sea glass & snow. I purposely chose the sea glass because it matched my colander that I also bought at World Market. I mixed the snow and sea glass together to get a third, in-between color.

Take painters tape and place it where you would like the paint to start. Make sure to not leave any gaps where paint can run under. They can be as fancy or simple as you want them to be.

Let it dry and apply a second coat if needed. Once it has completely dried, peel off your tape and there ya have it!

Make sure to HAND WASH ONLY! Wooden utensils are not recommended for dishwashers anyways. I’ve actually had some split over time because I was throwing mine in the dishwasher. Laziness does not pay! They hold up great with a little soap and warm water. Have a great weekend everyone and don’t forget to enter the Ankarsrum Mixer & Emile Henry bread cloche giveaway. The winner will be drawn this coming Monday. You can enter here!
